I present the result of a field study in the US on the topic of Load Building, and develop the Pallet Grid Assignment algorithm: a two-phase approach for optimizing the loading of pallet in a container. This approach uses column generation with partial application of branch-and-price in the first phase, and a Mixed Integer Program in the second.
